Anxiety

“People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance of our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive. That’s what it’s all finally about.”  Joseph Campbell

To worry is to be human. It’s a normal response to situations that are not within your control. But when worry becomes pervasive, it may escalate into anxiety that can interfere with your relationships at home and at work, clouding your ability to make decisions. Common symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Sweating

  • Rapid heart rate

  • Excess energy

  • Loss of focus

  • Unfounded fear

More serious anxiety disorders include:

  • Panic Attacks - When feelings of anxiety escalate, they can create a panic response that causes sweating and rapid heartbeat that feels like a heart attack. Panic attacks are often accompanied by fearful thoughts and fear of losing control.

  • Panic Disorder - When the fear of repeated panic attacks keeps you from living a normal life, Panic Disorder starts to take shape. You become hyper-vigilant and may feel paralyzed or afraid of being in public or even afraid of leaving the house.
